Rs 54 cr being spent on roads

A sum of Rs 54.88 crore was being spent on the construction of roads and bridges. The tendering process for three roads and a bridge to be constructed at a notional cost of Rs 10.41 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was underway.
Former Cabinet Minister and Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank chairman Harsh Mahajan said despite being in Shimla, he had always remained in touch with the people of Chamba and worked for their well-being.
Mahajan said a lot of development works had been carried out by the ruling Congress government and several schemes had been implemented for the uplift of people under the regime of Virbhadra Singh. The development in the state was the outcome of Virbhadra’s far-sightedness, he said.

As far as the development of Chamba segment was concerned, the construction of an enormous bridge across the Ravi at Baloo near Chamba was going on a war footing, and it will cost Rs 11 crore. When completed and commissioned, the bridge would benefit the Churah and Salooni subdivisions of the district, he said.
