There are many succeeding in the movie making industry and filmdom has found yet another potential jewel. Siddharth Chauhan belonging to the state of Himachal Pradesh is an Award Winning Indian Independent Filmmaker from Shimla, born on 24th September,1990. His father Balwan Singh Chauhan is a retired bank officer and his mother Bimla chauhan is a homemaker. Siddharth is a graduate from the University School of Business studies and a MBA from Himachal Pradesh University Business School. Though he did not receive any professional training, he learned his film making techniques from the internet while studying. His first docu-fiction named “Boys Don’t Wear Nailpolish” won him the Golden Halo Award which was based on a gender sensitive subject. The film was screened at several other film festivals including Mumbai International Queer Film Festival & ViBGYOR Film Festival and received an invitation for screening in october by the United States. His second film “ The Infinite Space” based on the story of a monk who dares to believe in an old secret, premiered at the Gaiety theatre, Shimla, and also featured the music of a famous Grammy Award Nominee Tibetan Musician; Nawang Khechog. The University of Manchester UK selected the film for their curation scheme in 2015 and was praised by the selection Jury. His latest film “PaPa” is a story about a mother and her boy living through the struggles of life after an accident has left them in wretched conditions. It premiered at the International Documentary & Short Film Festival Kerala and won the Best Film Award for its “ innovation in narrative gesture and wicked understanding of human behaviour.” Siddharth has earned positive response locally and globally as he took his films to several countries including England,USA,Belarus,Italy, Durham, Sarajevo, Indonesia, Paris and New Zealand. He is currently working on more scripts which will again feature local talent as it has before in his previous films.
